Facilities
Dorado Academy is located in the beautiful and gated
community of Dorado del Mar in the town of Dorado on Puerto
Rico’s northern coast, 22 miles west of historic Old San
Juan. In 2005, Dorado Academy began the massive construction
project that envisioned a school that incorporated innovated
ideas, technological tools and the appropriate physical
facilities to optimize the quality of the educational
process as well as the academic environment to fulfill the
school’s mission.
In June 2005, a master plan was developed to guide the
future expansion of its services to the students and its
community. The master plan was designed to meet the needs of
the school for improvements to the existing facilities and
the addition of new facilities over a programmed course of
time. Proposed improvements of our physical facilities were:
Construction of a new library for the middle/high school.
Expand and improve the elementary school library.
Expansion of 22 classrooms in the elementary and middle
school building. Expansion of the school cafeteria.
Construction of a new building for the preschool students.
Construction of new classrooms for Art and Music classes
Construction of an auditorium
The master plan also included an additional school entrance
for drop off area for students by the basketball court and a
new drop off canopy at the school’s main entrance. Today our facilities include five buildings, four of which
are two level structures and the gymnasium which is a one
level structure. Dorado Academy counts with thirty-seven
(37) classrooms, two (2) computer labs, one (1) science lab,
two (2) libraries, one (1) auditorium, a first aid office,
the administrative offices, an elevator and a cafeteria.
Dorado Academy’s physical facilities provide a comfortable
and positive learning environment. School and class sizes
meet student needs and effectively utilize the intended
capacity of the facility. The school facilities provide a
modern, spacious, safe and well-maintained physical
environment that supports optimal student development and
achievement.
