Welcome to Dorado Academy

Dorado Academy is an independent, non-profit/nonsectarian, English language co-educational college preparatory school of the highest academic standards, established under the laws of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Our academic services extend from Pre-Kinder to 12th grade.

 

Thank you for your interest in Dorado Academy as an educational option for your child. Although most of our information is available here at our website, visiting the school is a special way of learning more about Dorado Academy and will allow you to ask questions that are important to you.

If you wish for information on enrollment at Dorado Academy, press this link to access our Application Platform. There you can fill out your information and create an account. Through this platform, we can answer your questions and guide you in this process step by step:

Inquiry: Your first step in the Application Platform is to fill out your contact details. When you press the INQUIRE NOW button, you will create your account directly by filling out your information. Then you will receive an email with PDF documents that include: information about our school and the new family enrollment fees. 

Application: To apply, you must complete the information in the Application Form, upload the required documents, and pay the Application Fee (by uploading the filled-out Credit Card Authorization Form).

Evaluation: upload the required documents to begin the Evaluation Process which could also include: a student screening, an entrance exam, and/or a student's interview.

Enrollment: Finally, we will notify you of the result of the evaluation. If the child is accepted, you will complete the Enrollment Process on the platform and will receive an email from the Accounting office with instructions on how to pay the Enrollment Fees.

REQUIREMENTS
FOR NEW STUDENTS

 

  • Application form and $250.00 application fee

  • Picture (2”x2”)

  • Immunization (P-VAC-3) green form

  • Physical and eye examination reports

  • Original birth certificate

  • Social Security card copy

  • Psychometric Evaluation. The required tests per grade are: 

    • PK and Kinder: WPPSI and the Beery Buktenica Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration.

    • 1st to 5th grades: VMI 6TH edition and/or WISC_I.

    • 6th to 10th grades: VMI 6TH edition, WISC_IV, and/or Psychoeducational evaluation (Woodcock-Johnson is the most recommended).               

    • All observations and recommendations must be included in the report.  

    • Copy of any other updated evaluation like Psychoeducational, Occupational, or individualized educational program, if applicable, that includes cognitive emotional and educational assessments.

  • Screening or exams:

    • Pre-School screening (Pre-kinder and Kindergarten) 

    • Entrance exam (1st – 12th grades)

  • Official transcript from previous school 

    • Student must have a G.P.A.
      of 2.50 or more.

  • Letters of conduct and recommendation from previous school

  • Interview (1-12 grades)

  • Mandatory drug tests consent form (9th – 12th grades)

Additional information

  • For Pre-kinder admission, the student must be 4 years old by September 1st.

  • Dorado Academy will supply a list of books and uniforms. Uniforms are available for purchase at Olimac-Uniform Authority and books will be sold at Librería Educativa.

  • School hours are from 7:40 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. Our After School Program is available until 6:00 p.m. pick-up time.

  • Office hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • Breakfast, snacks, and lunch may be purchased at the cafeteria or brought from home. 

  • All students enrolling at Dorado Academy and entering grades 9th – 12th are required to participate in our mandatory drug testing program.
